Information Science Major/Minor Requirements

The curriculum in information science is oriented towards systems and applications. It emphasizes the design of an information system for public or private organizations; application programming and design; and methodologies for storing, retrieving, processing and transmitting data, and information. Students graduating from the program will be prepared for careers in information systems, computer applications and communication technology as found in government, business and society. The BS degree requires additional courses from within the major. A minor in information science is also available.

The requirements for the BS-IS and BA-IS degrees are listed below, followed by the requirements for MINOR-IS. Please note that the degree requirements for the major degree vary depending on your year. Also, forms are sometimes available on-line for tracking your progress toward a degree.

Requirements for a Minor in Information Science

Students wishing to minor in computer science take CSRU 1100, CSRU 1600, CSRU 2200 and three other courses offered by the department and numbered above 3000. The courses are selected in consultation with a department advisor.
